Carleton University’s School of Journalism and Communication has been running the Global Journalism Internship Program since 2006, sending over 200 students to the Global South.
This program provides aspiring journalists with real-world international media experience while building Carleton’s global presence.

Internship Highlights:
- Up to 10 funded positions available
- $4,000 funding per intern
- Full coverage of flights, accommodation, visas, local travel, insurance & training
- $500 monthly stipend for living expenses
- Reimbursement for vaccinations & medical expenses
- Hands-on experience with the Nature Answers podcast by Farm Radio International
Successful applicants will produce multimedia stories and podcasts showcasing rural African communities, gaining on-the-ground journalism experience.

Who Can Apply?
The program is open to Carleton journalism students, with preference for French-speaking applicants for the Côte d’Ivoire placement.
Candidates should have a strong interest in international reporting, storytelling, and multimedia journalism.

- Faculty Reference: Download and submit the 2025 Referee Appraisal Form.
