TIMEP Nonresident Fellowship Focus Areas and Geographic Priorities

TIMEP fellows focus on specific mandates within critical thematic areas and geographic priorities.

Applicants are encouraged to propose topics related to TIMEP’s areas of focus, which include:

Fellows can select a mandate focusing on one or more countries, with priority given to Tunisia, Egypt, Sudan, Syria, and Lebanon.

However, proposals related to other countries in North Africa and the Levant will also be considered.

Named Fellowships: Sarah Hegazi and Mohamed Aboelgheit Nonresident Fellowships

In honor of two outstanding advocates, TIMEP designates two named fellowships each year: The Sarah Hegazi Nonresident Fellow and the Mohamed Aboelgheit Nonresident Fellow.

These fellowships commemorate their legacies in advocacy and journalism.

Applicants interested in these named fellowships can indicate their preference during the application process.

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the TIMEP Nonresident Fellowship 2025-2026, applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria:

  1. Experience: At least five (5) years of relevant work or academic experience related to your proposed mandate.
  2. Educational Background: A bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
  3. Language Proficiency: Proficiency in both English and Arabic (written and spoken).
  4. Commitment: A strong commitment to TIMEP’s mission of promoting transparency, accountability, and justice in the MENA region.
  5. Connectivity: Applicants should have strong connections to civil society, grassroots organizations, or advocacy networks.
  6. Regional Preference: Preference will be given to applicants based in or working in the MENA region to ensure localized perspectives.
